The latest Global Reptile Assessment published by the IUCN Red List of Threatened SpeciesTM, revealed that more than one in five of the world’s reptiles are threatened with extinction.

To echo the need to ramp up global efforts to ensure their protection, this year’s Calls for Proposals supports the conservation of Endangered and Critically Endangered squamates: collectively known as scaled reptiles, they are the most diverse and largest order of all reptile groups.

Under the Fondation Segré Conservation Action Fund, we are issuing two Calls for proposals:

  • Conservation Action Grants (maximum grant size: EUR 50,000).

The objective of this Call for Proposals is to enable and support Civil Society Organizations engaged in the conservation of threatened squamates to carry out conservation projects that can apply sustainable conservation measures to protect these species, their habitats and to improve the livelihoods of the people who depend on them.

  • Research Support Grants (maximum grant size: EUR 7,000)

The objective of this Call for Proposals is to provide support for young and early researchers enrolled in a curriculum to pursue their research on threatened squamates, upgrade general knowledge, and strengthen their proficiency in natural resource management, while benefitting the conservation and management of these threatened species.

Maximum duration for Conservation Action Grants and Research Support Grants is 12 months.

The Fondation Segré Conservation Action Fund, funded by Fondation Segré through IUCN Save Our Specie, is a five-year initiative which will run until 2026. The Fund will focus on threatened species and their habitats across Asia, the Pacific, Latin America and the Caribbean, Africa, and the Middle East. This initiative will support conservation projects and young and early researchers for all animal species considered as threatened on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species, including terrestrial, freshwater and marine species.

Fondation Segré is committed to help protect the biodiversity of our planet through the active conservation of threatened species and their habitat and the restoration of degraded ecosystems.
